Open Gym Nights
High School students and adults of all skill levels gather in our gym for a fun-focused night of volleyball on Friday or Saturday nights from 6-9 pm. After an energizing evening, we usually refuel at the Willshire Drive-Inn (world’s best ice cream) or we go to Decatur for Pizza Hut. One thing is for sure, we have a great time!
Vacation Bible School
Every summer we put on a great VBS experience. The talented team that heads up this part of the summer pumps all of their creativity and enthusiasm into making the VBS adventure fun and exciting for all the children.
Church Camp at Camp Cotubic (Bellefontaine, Ohio)
If any youth in our church or community want to attend church camp, we try to make that possible. Through the participation of the youth, we set up a scholarship fund so that parents usually pay only $50 of the total $300 cost. Through fundraising and the generosity of the church, scholarships are awarded to cover the rest.
Here at Praise Point we put a emphasis on sending our students to church camp every summer. We see how camp can change lives and we fundraise nearly year round in order to make the cost of the week at Camp Cotubic no more than $50 per student. We do this because of the high value we place on the experience the students will have.
There are good church activities one can do in the backyard, in the church basement, on a big trip, or through VBS, but you can’t duplicate Camp Cotubic! One of the aspects offered at camp is the very close fellowship. You don’t get lost in the crowd.
There’s a more relaxed atmosphere at church camp that gives students quiet time to explore their life and heart in light of where they stand with God as the Creator of the universe and Savior of the world. (Don’t worry! There are also tons of crazy games with slime and silliness, water slides, boats, and did we mention “The Blob”?!)
Campers of all ages have an opportunity to meet people from other churches, and hopefully that fellowship will extend beyond the week at camp. There’s opportunity here for the youth minister to interact with his own youth during camp, to develop lessons that are going to speak to the needs of the kids who are here, and assist with the responsibilities of the other volunteers who help make camp happen.
