Melina Agler

Secretary

Melina has called Willshire home all her life, having lived in town since age 6 and only two miles outside of town before that. Her parents joined the Willshire United Brethren Church before she started school. She became a Christian there at age 11 during a fall revival service.

Melina enjoyed many activities of the church and gained life experience from the people of the church family. She especially enjoyed church camp at the campground in Rockford, Ohio.

One year at camp, just before her senior year at Parkway High School, she made the commitment to seek God’s will and career for her life. God then opened the doors for her to attend Huntington University, the United Brethren college in Huntington, Indiana, where she majored in Mathematics.

Melina and her husband, Randy, were married during her senior year at Huntington. She began eaching math and science that fall at Crestview High School in Convoy, Ohio.

Randy and Melina have two daughters: Valerie lives in New Carlisle, Ohio (along with her two daughters), and Jeanine lives in Maple Heights, Ohio.

Melina planned to return to teaching when her younger daughter started school, but God led her in a different direction. However, she continues using her teaching gifts in the church by chairing the Education Commission, teaching an adult Sunday school class, and leading the junior church for ages pre-school to “when I feel too old for junior church” (middle school).

It started when Melina said, “I’ll volunteer to type and run the bulletins for a few weeks.” Little did she know that she would find herself with a paid position and a beautiful office in a new church building only three blocks from her home.

Melina says, “Being a part of the merging of two congregations and the construction of a new building has been a very exciting time. We have seen God provide in so many ways over the past few years, and are now seeing Him meet new needs as we venture into new territory we could not even imagine before.”
